Valuation of Amazon Company Using Selected Valuation Methods

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je stanovení hodnoty společnosti Amazon.com, Inc. za využití vybraných oceňovacích metod. Literární rešerše definuje základní pojmy, představuje jednotlivé oceňovací metody a popisuje postup při valuaci podniku. Analytická část, jejíž náplní je představení společnosti i provedení strategické a finanční analýzy, je základem pro sestavení pětiletého finančního plánu, jenž se uplatní při aplikaci metody DCF v projektové části práce. Ta je zde hlavní metodou pro stanovení hodnoty podniku, její výsledky jsou ale porovnány i s doplňkovou metodou multiples. V závěru práce je nastíněn předpokládaný vývoj společnosti a na základě provedených analýz i odhadu vnitřní hodnoty akcie je vydáno investiční doporučení pro investory.

Abstract:

The main objective of the master thesis is to determine the value of Amazon.com, Inc. using selected valuation methods. The literature review defines the basic concepts, introduces the different valuation methods, and describes the valuation process. The analytical part, which includes the introduction of the company as well as the strategic and financial analysis, is the basis for the development of a five-year financial plan, which is used in the application of the DCF method in the project part. In this thesis, the DCF is the main method for determining the value of the company, but its results are also compared with the complementary method of multiples. The thesis concludes with an outline of the expected development of the company and, based on the analyses performed and the estimate of the intrinsic value of the share, an investment recommendation for investors is issued.
