Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na Mandelbrotovu množinu, fraktál pojmenovaný po otci fraktálů. Práce nejprve představuje autory myšlenek stojícími za fraktální množiny Gastona M. Julia a Benoita Mandelbrota. Dále definuje pojem fraktál a zkoumá jeho základní vlastnosti jako jsou soběpodobnost a fraktální dimenze, které jsou demonstrovány na příkladech Sierpińského trojúhelníku a Kochově křivce. Nejprve jsou představeny Juliovy množiny, jako příklad fraktálu vzniklého iterací kvadratického polynomu. V práci bude zkoumán tvar a dynamika Juliových množin. Autor navrhne jednoduché algoritmy, které Juliovy množiny vykreslí pro zvolenu konstantu c. Dále bude představena Mandelbrotova množina, její struktura a provázání s Juliovou množinou. Na závěr autor formuluje zamyšlení, jaké využití skrývají matematičtí obři Juliova a Mandelbrotova množina.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the Mandelbrot set, a fractal named after the father of fractals. The thesis first introduces the authors of the ideas behind fractal sets, Gaston M. Julia and Benoit Mandelbrot. It then defines the notion of a fractal and examines its basic properties such as self-similarity and fractal dimensions, which are demonstrated by the examples of the Sierpiński triangle and the Koch curve. First, Julia sets are introduced as an example of a fractal formed by iterating a quadratic polynomial. The shape and dynamics of Julia sets will be investigated in the paper. The author will propose simple algorithms that render the Julia sets for a chosen constant c. Furthermore, the Mandelbrot set, its structure and its interconnection with the Julia set will be introduced. Finally, the author will formulate a reflection on the uses of the mathematical giants of the Julia and Mandelbrot sets.
