Development of the Czechoslovak Cinematographic Museum: The Story of Jindřich Brichta

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje životu a dílu Jindřicha Brichty, jednoho z předních československých kameramanů se zájmem o výuku a uchování kinematografických památek. Jedním z jeho nejvýznamnějších počinů bylo založení Československého kinematografického musea, které fungovalo mezi lety 1948-1954 v Praze. Muzeum vzešlo z bohatých sbírek Národního technického muzea, které sám J. Brichta nashromáždil. Sbírky byly základem i pro několik významných výstav, jimiž se práce také zabývá. Mezi ně patří „50 let československého filmu“ a „50 let kinematografu“, jež se kromě Prahy uskutečnila i v Brně.

Abstract:

The Bachelor's thesis is dedicated to the life and work of Jindřich Brichta, one of the leading Czechoslovak cinematographers with an interest in teaching and preserving cinematographic monuments. One of his most important achievements was the establishment of the Czechoslovak Cinematographic Museum, which operated between 1948 and 1954 in Prague. The museum grew out of the rich collections of the National Technical Museum, which Brichta himself had gathered. The collections were the basis for several important exhibitions, which are also the subject of this work. These include "50 let československého filmu" and "50 let kinematografu", which took place in Brno as well as Prague.
