Web-based Graphical Editor of Ontology Transformation Patterns

Abstract:

V poslední době dochází ke značnému rozvoji sémantického webu, tedy webu dat, které jsou strojově zpracovatelné. K reprezentaci znalostí v rámci sémantického webu se používají ontologie. V některých případech může být vhodné změnit realizaci modelu ontologie, tedy provést transformaci ontologií. K tomuto účelu je možné využít ontologické transformační vzory. Cílem, a zároveň i přínosem práce je vytvoření webového editoru ontologických transformačních vzorů. Tento editor by měl umožnit vytváření a úpravy transformačních vzorů pomocí grafického rozhraní, které je velmi podobné tomu v UML modelovacích nástrojích. Nejdříve je nutné se seznámit s tématikou sémantického webu, ontologií a jejich transformací a také s technologiemi, které budou při vývoji editoru použity. Jde zejména o javovský webový framework Vaadin. Práce obsahuje teoretický úvod do problematiky sémantického webu a ontologických transformačních vzorů. Dále se práce zabývá ontologiemi a jejich strukturou a také transformacemi ontologií. Práce se také věnuje frameworku Vaadin, který je stručně popsán a zhodnocen. V práci je obsaženo také srovnání aplikace s předchozí verzí aplikace (TPEditor), je zde popsáno uživatelské rozhraní aplikace a návod k jeho používání. Dále jsou popsány použité technologie a je prezentována struktura aplikace.

Abstract:

Semantic Web, the web of machine-processable data, has recently experienced substantial development. Ontologies have been used as a tool for representing information on the Semantic Web. In some cases, there may be a need to transform the ontology from one modeling choice to another. The aim of this thesis is to create a web editor of ontology transformation patterns. This editor should enable its users to create and edit transformation patterns in a graphical interface, similar to the ones used in UML editors. First of all, it's necessary to become acquainted with the topic of Semantic Web, Ontologies and their transformations. It is also needed to get familiarized with the tools that will be used during the development, especially with the Vaadin framework. The thesis contains an introduction to the Semantic Web, Ontologies, including their structure and Ontology transformation patterns. There is also a description and evaluation of Vaadin framework. A comparison of the application with its predecessor (TPEditor) and a user guide that should help users to master the application are also included. Finally, there is a description of both the remaining technologies and the structure of the application.
