Social inequality in the TV show Výměna manželek

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je v kontextu relační teorie P. Bourdieua analyzovat reprezentaci sociální nerovnosti na příkladu televizního pořadu Výměna manželek. Práce se zaměří na styl života aktérů, včetně jejich gastronomických dovedností a stravování, pohybových a sportovních aktivit, úrovně bydlení a vzdělávání a výchovy dětí. Na základě kvalitativní obsahové analýzy budou identifikovány dílčí reprezentace sociální nerovnosti, které se v pořadu s pravděpodobným záměrem vyskytují. Dále se práce zaměří i na analýzu individuálního pohledu, kterým jednotliví aktéři pohlížejí a hodnotí sama sebe i ostatní účastníky pořadu.

Abstract:

The goal of the bachelor thesis is to analyze the representation of social inequality in the context of Pierre Bourdieu's book 'Distinction: A Social Critique of the Judgement of Taste' in the television show Výměna manželek. This work will focus on the lifestyle of participants, including their free time activities, gastronomic skills, the standard of living, or the education and upbringing of children. By using qualitative content analysis we will identify partial representations of social inequality that appear in the show. Furthermore, the work will also focus on the individual view that participants view and evaluate themselves and other show participants.
