Management of Suffolk sheep breeding in a small farm

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je popis managementu chovu ovcí plemene Suffolk v malochovu. Práce popisuje veškeré náležitosti, které jsou s chovem ovcí na vlastní farmě spojené. Zahrnuje především problematiku reprodukce, ale také výživy. Práce zahrnuje praktické výsledky reprodukčních ukazatelů, které byly zjišťovány na vybrané farmě ve městě Šumperk od roku 2016 do roku 2022. Výsledky se týkají zhodnocení reprodukčních ukazatelů sledovaného chovu u bahnic, kde byla zaznamenána v jednotlivých letech rozdílná úspěšnost v zabřezávání plemenic. Pozornost je dále věnována zhodnocení reprodukčních ukazatelů sledovaného chovu u beranů, kde byla zjištěna stagnující situace v úspěšnosti zabřezávání od roku 2016 až do roku 2020. Poté byla zaznamenána mírná sestupná tendence. Následně byly zhodnoceny reprodukční ukazatele chovu, kde byly porovnávány počty narozených, odchovaných jehňat a počty ztrát. Výsledky se v jednotlivých letech liší.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to describe the management of Suffolk sheep breeding in small-scale farming. The thesis describes all the essentials that are associated with sheep breeding on your own farm. It includes, first of all, the issue of reproduction, but also nutrition. The thesis includes practical results of reproductive indicators that were collected on a selected farm in the town of Šumperk from 2016 to 2022. The results concern the evaluation of reproductive indicators of the monitored breeding in ewes, where different success rates in pregnant stallions were recorded in individual years. Attention is also paid to the evaluation of reproductive indicators of the monitored breeding in rams, where a stagnant situation in the success rate of pregnancy from 2016 to 2020 was found. A slight downward trend was then observed. Subsequently, the reproductive indicators of the breed were evaluated, where the numbers of births, lambs reared and the number of losses were compared. Results vary from year to year.
