Harmonization of work and personal life: view of women in Mary Kay

Abstract:

Diplomová práce analyzuje nahlížení jedenácti žen na životní harmonizaci ve společnosti Mary Kay, se zaměřením na detekci ovlivňujících faktorů a následné vyvození zlepšujících doporučení pro zaměstnavatele, za účelem optimalizace podpory harmonizace a s tím souvisejících přínosů pro obě strany. S využitím polostrukturovaných hloubkových rozhovorů bylo zjištěno, že mezi nejvýznamněji působící faktory patří pracovní doba, zvláště možnost flexibility, také filozofie společnosti a z ní vycházející politika podporující harmonizaci, směřující nejen k podpoře rodiny. Dále bylo zjištěno, že ženy prostřednictvím několika strategií samy přispívají k harmonizaci svého života. Důležitá je pro ně naplňující práce, vlastní nezávislost, včasný odchod domů a určité volno vyhraněné také sobě samým. Ženy vnímají svůj život převážně jako harmonizovaný. Mary Kay je činí spokojenými a to se promítá také do jejich osobního života.

Abstract:

Master´s thesis analyzes the view of eleven women on life harmonization in Mary Kay, focusing on the detection of influencing factors and the subsequent derivation of improvement recommendations for employers in order to optimize the support of harmonization and the related benefits for both parties. Using semi-structured in-depth interviews it has been found that the most important factors include working time, in particular flexibility, the philosophy of the organization and a policy that promotes harmonization, not only to support the family. It was also found that women, through several strategies, themselves contribute to the harmonization of their lives. What is important for them is the work that fills them, their own independence, their early departure home and some free time also for themselves. Women perceive their lives predominantly as being harmonized. Mary Kay makes them happy and it is also reflected in their personal lives.
