Translating the Spanish Gerund into Czech (a Comparative Study)

Abstract:

The aim of this work was to compare the translation of the Spanish gerund into the Czech language. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and practical ones. In the theoretical part, we dealt with the morphological and syntactic-semantic characteristics of the Spanish gerund. Furthermore, we characterized this phenomenon in the Czech language. In the practical part, we comment on different ways of translation of the Spanish gerund into the Czech language. Our conclusion is that the Spanish gerund is translated by the Czech equivalent only in few cases.

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo srovnat překlad španělského přechodníku do češtiny. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části jsme se věnovali morfologické a syntakticko-sémantické charakteristice španělského přechodníku. Dále jsme charakterizovali tento jev v češtině. V praktické části jsme okomentovali různé způsoby překladu španělského přechodníku do češtiny. Došli jsme k závěru, že španělský přechodník se překládá jeho českým ekvivalentem jen v málo případech.
