Post post-internet: Mapping the Czech art scene development

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zaměří na zmapování vývoje tvorby umělců, kteří spoluutvářeli českou post-internetovou scénu (Kryštof Ambrůz, Martin Kohout, Martina Růžičková aj.). Vycházíme z předpokladu, že éra post-internetového umění již pominula a umělci, kteří ji v českém prostředí spolutvořili, se ve své tvorbě posunuli pod vlivem dalších současných filozofických směrů (jako například spekulativní realismus a akceleracionismus). Cílem diplomové práce je, na základě diskurzivní analýzy, popsat a pojmenovat aktuální trendy ovlivňující práci současných českých umělců se zaměřením na vývoj představitelů post-internetového umění. Budeme definovat hlavní témata, která zpracovávají v jejich „post post-internetovém období”, a způsoby či formy, jimiž je zpracovávají.

Abstract:

Master's diploma thesis focuses on mapping the development of the artistic production of artists who were engaged in the Czech post-internet scene (Kryštof Ambrůz, Martin Kohout, Martina Růžičková etc.). We assume that the epoch of post-internet art has already passed and the artists who engaged and co-created it in the Czech Republic have shifted to other topic under the influence of other contemporary philosophical directions (such as speculative realism and accelerationism). The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe and name current trends influencing the work of contemporary Czech artists on the basis of the discourse analysis focusing on the development of the post-Internet art representatives. We will define the main themes that they deal with in their “post post-internet period”, and the ways or forms of their artworks.
