Old Czech Mastičkář: Drama and Performance

Abstract:

Předmětem výzkumu této práce je staročeský dramatický text Mastičkář, pocházející ze 14. století. Cílem této práce je se na základě textové analýzy dochovaného Muzejního a Drkolenského zlomku a jejího usouvztažnění se sekundárními prameny k dobovým inscenačním konvencím ptát po specifických kvalitách těchto dvou staročeských textů a rekonstruovat možnou podobu jejich inscenace v době vzniku. Inscenační podoba Muzejního zlomku bude poté zvažována v prostorech pražské katedrály sv. Víta.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the Old Bohemian drama from the 14th century, Mastičkář (The Spice Merchant). The goal of the research is, based on the textual analysis of The Museum and Schlägel fragment and their contextualization with the contemporary staging conventions, to distinguish the specific qualities of these Old Bohemian texts and to reconstruct their possible form of performance in the time of their origin. The mise-en-scène of The Museum fragment is considered specifically in the premises of Saint Vitus Cathedral in Prague.
