Analysis of the use of electricity in a building with a solar power plant and battery storage

Abstract:

Práce řeší problematiku fotovoltaické elektrárny na střeše firemní budovy. Cílem této práce je analýza objektu, jeho charakteristické spotřeby elektrické energie a celková efektivnost celého fotovoltaického systému. Zaměřil jsem se na tři základní varianty, a to jmenovitě na variantu bez použití baterie, s použitím baterie #1 o maximální kapacitě 30 kWh s příkonem 5 kWh a s použitím baterie #2 o maximální kapacitě 60 kWh a příkonem 10 kWh. Problematiku jsem se snažil svědomitě zmapovat a za pomoci dostupných zdrojů, ať už literárních nebo internetových, zpracovat. Ve vlastním řešení je představeno několik modelových případů. V práci se nachází modely spotřeby elektrické energie tří referenčních dnů a rovněž se zde nachází modely celkové spotřeby elektrické energie objektu ve třech referenčních letech. V závěru je provedeno jednoduché ekonomické zhodnocení jednotlivých variant s vypočítanou teoretickou návratností vstupní investice. Výsledkem závěru je obecné doporučení pro volbu vhodné varianty a finanční vyčíslení v práci zmíněných variant. Nejrychlejší návratnost má varianta 1, kdy by se počáteční investice navrátila již za 4 až 5,5 let. S baterií se kvůli aktuální dimenzi fotovoltaické elektrárny návratnost zvyšuje a její účinnost není ekonomicky vhodná, neboť panely nejsou aktuálně schopné akumulovat dost energie na pokrytí klidové noční spotřeby zadaného objektu. Může být ovšem žádoucí udržovat si baterii o nějaké kapacitě za účelem pokrytí kritické spotřeby v době výpadku či blackout scénáře. To vše je již na rozvaze investora.

Abstract:

The thesis is solving the issue of a photovoltaic power plant on the roof of a company building. Goal of this work is to analyze the building, its characteristic electricity consumption and the overall efficiency of the entire photovoltaic system. I focused on three basic variations, namely the battery-free variation, using battery #1 with a maximum capacity of 30 kWh with a power input of 5 kWh and battery #2 variation with a maximum capacity of 60 kWh and a power input of 10 kWh. I tried to conscientiously map the issue and process it with the help of available resources, whether literary or online. Several model cases are presented in the solution itself. The thesis contains models of electricity consumption of three reference days and there are also models of total electricity consumption of the building in three reference years. In the end, a simple economic evaluation of individual variants with a calculated theoretical return on the initial investment is performed. The result of the conclusion is a general recommendation for the selection of a suitable variation and financial quantification of the mentioned variations in the work. Variation 1 has the fastest return, where the initial investment would return in 4 to 5,5 years. Due to the current dimension of the photovoltaic power plant, the return increases with the battery and its efficiency is not economically suitable, because the panels are not currently able to accumulate enough energy to cover the night consumption of the specified object. However, it may be desirable to maintain a battery of some capacity in order to cover critical consumption in the event of an outage of electricity or blackout scenario. Final decision is on the investor of the PV power plant.
