Abstract:

Politická korektnost je fenomén, který ovládl veřejnou debatu v anglicky mluvících zemích. S rozmachem politické korektnosti souvisí i rozvoj politicky nekorektních vtipů. Zatímco politická korektnost vnáší do veřejné debaty nová tabu, politicky nekorektní vtipy tato tabu odrážejí v soukromé konverzaci. Lidé se smějí politicky nekorektním vtipům, protože jim tyto vtipy umožňují tato tabu obcházet, ne proto, že by vtipy vyjadřovaly skrytá poselství. Vtipy, jakkoli se mohou zdát urážející, vznikají proto, aby pobavily. Tato práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. První vysvěltuje koncept politické korektnosti, jak tento koncept vznikal a jaké jsou jeho nejvíce kontroverzní aspekty. Druhá kapitola popisuje, jak vtipy vznikají a jaký je jejich účel. Vtipy fungují v režimu non-bona-fide komunikace, který je odlišný od režimu normální komunikace. Sémantická teorie humour vysvětluje nutné podmínky pro to, aby vtip fungoval. Tyto podmínky jsou překrývání skriptů a jejich opačnost. Poslední dvě kapitoly se zabývají politicky korektním jazykem a politicky nekorektními vtipy. Politicky korektní jazyk je založen na hypotéze, že jazyk a myšlení spolu souvisí. Předpokladem je, že používáním politicky korektního jazyka se změní vnímání světa. Poslední kapitola popisuje politicky nekorektní vtipy, zejména fakt, že vtipy nevyjadřují žádná skrytá poselství a jejich jediným smyslem je bavit lidi.

Abstract:

Political correctness is a phenomenon which dominates public discourse in English speaking countries. With wide acceptance of political correctness another phenomenon can be seen: the rise of the political incorrect joke. While political correctness creates new taboos in public communication, politically incorrect jokes reflect these taboos in private conversation. People laugh at politically incorrect jokes because they enable them to bypass a taboo, not because jokes convey hidden messages. Jokes, no matter how offensive they may seem, exist to entertain. This thesis is divided into four chapters. The first explains what is political correctness, how it developed and what are the most controversial aspects. Second chapter explains how jokes are created and for what purpose. Jokes are told in non-bona fide communication mode. The script-based semantic theory of humour explains what conditions must be satisfied to make a joke work – script oppositeness and script overlap. The next two chapters deal with politically correct language and politically incorrect jokes. Politically correct language is based on the hypothesis, that language and thought are connected and therefore sanitizing language will change the perception of the world. The last chapter deals with politically incorrect jokes and the fact that they do not convey any message, they serve the sole purpose, to entertain.
