Exploration of possible applications of alternative educational methods on the teaching of political science in the Czech environment

Abstract:

Tato práce prozkoumává několik různých alternativních vzdělávacích metod, pomocí kterých je možné zpestřit výuku politické vědy v českém prostředí. Teoretické principy alternativního vzdělávání, ze kterých vychází tato práce, formuloval Sir Ken Robinson a zahrnují mimo jiné divergentní myšlení a kreativitu, personalizovaný přístup, neoddělování akademických od neakademických schopností nebo reflektování moderních technologií a kulturních trendů. Konkrétními vybranými alternativními vzdělávacími přístupy jsou zde soutěžní debatování, počítačové simulace a hry a popularizace vědy pomocí metod vyprávění. Výsledné návrhy jsou specificky uzpůsobené českému prostředí, politickému systému a společenské kultuře, a to především s ohledem na Národní program vzdělávání v ČR (Bílou knihu) a dílčí rámcové vzdělávací prorgramy. Návrhy v této práci je možné aplikovat jak ve volném čase, tak v rámci konvenčního vzdělávacího systému, osnov a akreditovaných předmětů.

Abstract:

This paper explores several different alternative educational methods, by which it is possible to enrich the teaching of political science in the Czech environment. Theoretical principles of alternative education on which this paper is based were formulated by Sir Ken Robinson and they include divergent thinking and creativity, personalized approach, end of separation of academic and non-academic abilities or the reflection of modern technologies and cultural trends. Specifically selected alternative educational approaches are the competitive debating, computer games and simulations and the popularization of science by the methods of storytelling. The final recommendations are specifically designed with the Czech environment, political system and societal culture in mind, mainly with regard to the National Programme of Education in the Czech Republic (the White Book) a partial educational frameworks. The recommendations in this paper can be applied both in free time and within the framework of the conventional educational system, curricula and accredited classes.
