Attitudes to the Restoration and Conservation of Furniture in Bohemia and Moravia in the 20th and 21st Century

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Přístupy k restaurování a konzervování v Čechách a na Moravě ve 20. a 21. století“ se snaží zmapovat vývoj a jednotlivé přístupy k restaurování a konzervaci nábytku na našem území. Zabývá se vývojem a kvalitou uměleckořemeslných restaurátorských technologií a materiálů, časově porovnává stav a obsah restaurátorských dokumentací, poukazuje na minulost a dnešní situaci v Čechách a na Moravě. Práce se také zaměřuje na školy a jiné soukromé a státní instituce, které se zabývají restaurováním a konzervováním dřeva. Porovnává rozdíly mezi restaurátorskou teorií a praxí a předkládá názorné příklady, poukazuje na různorodost technik a materiálů v restaurátorství.

Abstract:

The Bachelor Dissertation “Approaches to Restoration and Conservation in Bohemia and Moravia in 20 and 21 century” attempts to chart the development and individual approaches to restoration and conservation of furniture in our region. It deals with the development and quality of arts-and-crafts and restoration technologies and materials, it compares states and contents of restoration documentation throughout the period; it also refers to the past and present situation in Bohemia and Moravia. The Dissertation focuses on schools and other private or state institutions as well, which are engaged in restoration and conservation of wood. It compares the differences between the theory and practice of restoration and refers to illustrative examples and it deals with variety of techniques and materials.
