Motivation of nurses to practice their profession

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá motivací všeobecných sester pro výkon jejich povolání. V teoretické části jsou popsány kapitoly týkající se motivace, faktorů motivace a negativních vlivů při výkonu povolání. V dalších kapitolách je zmíněna tématika ohledně platového ohodnocení, prestiže, vztahu sestra pacient, také vzdělávání všeobecné sestry, kompetencím a celoživotnímu vzdělávání. V poslední kapitole teoretické části jsou práce, které jsou na obdobné téma. Cílem této bakalářské práce je sepsat a zhodnotit čím jsou sestry motivovány k výkonu povolání a čím naopak motivovány nejsou. Pro průzkumnou část byl zvolen kvalitativní design průzkumu, sběr dat byl proveden pomocí rozhovorů, které byly následně analyzovány v programu atlast.ti. Byla zjištěna pozitiva, která ovlivňují výkon povolání, jako jsou například jistota povolání a poznání. Také byla zjištěna negativa, kde se vyskytují podhodnocení oboru, vliv financí a stresové situace na pracovišti. Z hlediska motivace ke studiu a následné práce v tomto oboru byly zjištěny pozitivní aspekty jako pomoc lidem, zajímavost oboru, seberealizace, motivovanosti v platovém ohodnocení absence benefitů, ztráta prestiže tohoto povolání a finance celkově.

Abstract:

This thesis is concerning with motivation for nurses' work performance. In the theoretical part of this thesis chapters about motivation factors, negative influences within their working performance are described. Other chapters are dealing with financial assessment, prestige of this occupation, the nurse-patient relationship, school studies for this occupation, working competences and life-long education. In the last chapter of the theoretical part theses dealing with similar topics are cited. My aim is to summarize and evaluate nurses' motivations and concerns. For practical part a qualitative design has been provided. Data were acquired by interviews, which were analyzed in atlast.ti program. There were found some positives, such need for this occupation and gaining knowledge but also negatives including underestimation of difficulties, financial influence on workers and stressful situations. Students studying nursing school stated their reasons for becoming nurses, e. g. desire for helping people, attractivity of this field and self-realization. Other discovered values affecting nurses' motivation include absence of financial benefits, prestige loss and financial evaluation.
