Regional Groups in the Human Rights Council

This thesis deals with the UN Human Rights Council which replaced the criticized UN Commission on Human Rights in 2006. The author seeks to answer research questions related to acting of regional groups at the Council. She is interested mainly in finding out whether regional groups are cohesive in voting, and, if not, what are the possible causes of the divergence from the group, or causes of the split …more
Abstract:
Táto práca sa zaoberá Radou OSN pre ľudské práva, ktorá v roku 2006 nahradila Komisiu pre ľudské práva. Autorka hľadá odpovede na výskumné otázky, týkajúce sa pôsobenia regionálnych skupín v Rade. Zaujíma sa najmä o to, či regionálne skupiny hlasujú jednotne, a ak nie, aké sú možné príčiny odklonu štátov od skupiny, alebo rozdelenia skupín. Zároveň skúma i rolu nadregionálnych blokov.
