The topic of the proposed work is self-presentation of Czech politicians on Twitter during the campaign for parliamentary elections in 2017 as well as after the elections. Such approach provides possibility of not just describing but also comparing communication strategies used by selected politicians. There might be differences in communication styles ahead of the elections and after. Proposed study would be able to spot the differences. The main question of the study is what picture of themselves politicians try to create on Twitter. Many sub-questions and problems arise with that. It is important to know who manages the account the politician or PR specialist. Attention is paid to whether the candidates focus on themselves or rather their opponents. Proposed work analyses ways in which candidates interact with other users if at all, how often and how the communication changes before and after the election.

Anotace:

Tato magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá sebeprezentací českých politiků na Twitteru v období tří měsíců před volbami do Poslanecké sněmovny Parlamentu České republiky v roce 2017 a dvou týdnů po nich. Práce v širším rámci vychází z teorie sociální konstrukce reality a konstruktivismu obecně. V práci je analyzováno pět nejsledovanějších osobních účtů českých politiků, kteří v daných volbách kandidovali, zkoumány jsou tedy účty Andreje Babiše, Miro-slava Kalouska, Bohuslava Sobotky, Pavla Bělobrádka a Petra Fialy. Metodou diskurzivní analýzy inspirovanou prací Jamese Paula Geeho je zkoumáno, jaké politici vytvářejí identity, jakou kolem sebe konstruují realitu, jak ideologicky pracují s jazykem, vytváří vztahy, souvis-losti a zvýznamňují či marginalizují činy své a svých politických oponentů.

Abstract:

This master's thesis deals with self-presentation of Czech politicians on Twitter during the three months period leading to the general elections in 2017 and two weeks after the elections. The thesis builds upon the social construction of reality theory and constructivism in general. The five most followed personal accounts of Czech politicians who ran for the office are ana-lysed, namely accounts of Andrej Babiš, Miroslav Kalousek, Bohuslav Sobotka, Pavel Bělobrádek and Petr Fiala. Using the method of discourse analysis, inspired by the work of James Paul Gee, the thesis analyses the construction of identities, the overall reality the politi-cians build, the ideological use of language, the building of relations, connections or emphasis-ing/marginalizing their actions or actions of their political rivals.
