Role of the nurse in children's acute scrotum monitoring

Abstract:

V této práci "Role sestry při sledování syndromu akutního šourku u dětí" se zaměřujeme, jak již název napovídá, na úzkou skupinu diagnóz spadajících do podoboru dětská urologie, které souhrnně nazýváme akutním skrotálním syndromem. Hlavním cílem práce je zmapování a porovnaní informací a ošetřovatelské péče u jednotlivých onemocnění spadajících do syndromu akutního šourku. Z dílčích cílů zde zjišťujeme míru informovanosti zdravotních sester na dětské chirurgii o dané diagnóze. Porovnáváme rozdíly, výhody a nevýhody v konzervativní a v chirurgické (operační) léčbě a poukazujeme na rozdílnost diagnóz a problémů ošetřovatelské péče u zánětu varlete, čili u konzervativní léčby a torze varlete neboli u chirurgické léčby. Popsané cíle vyhodnocujeme na základě výsledků z dotazníkového šetření určeného pro 55 sester pracujících na dětské chirurgii, setkávajících se s tímto syndromem běžně v zaměstnání, tak rovněž z osobních zkušeností s touto problematikou a péčí o takto nemocné děti. Výsledky této práce nám mají ukázat nedostatky v ošetřovatelské péči, postupech, komunikaci a předávání informací nejen mezi zdravotníky, ale i v komunikaci s dětmi a jejich rodiči či rodinami. Závěry poslouží k ještě většímu zkvalitnění ošetřovatelské péče o děti s touto diagnózou.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis named "Role of the nurse in children's acute scrotum monitoring" deals with specific group of diagnoses belonging to subspecialty of paediatric surgery called urological surgery. These diagnoses are collectively called as acute scrotum syndrome. Main goal of the thesis is to get together and compare information and nursing care principles concerning particular diagnoses belonging to acute scrotum syndrome. As sub-objectives we ascertain level of awareness of nurses from children's surgery department about these specific diagnoses. Furthermore we compare differences, advantages and disadvantages of conservative and surgical treatment and advert to diversity of diagnoses and problems of the nursing care in the case of testicular torsion diagnose. We evaluate the described goals on the basis of questionnaire survey designed for 55 nurses from children's surgery department who are dealing with this syndrome ordinarily in the hospital and as well on the basis of my personal experience in these matters and in the care of children with these diagnoses. Conclusions of this thesis should advert to insufficiencies in nursing care, processes and communication not only between medical staff but also in communication with children and their parents or families. The conclusions then will serve to improve the quality of nursing care of children with these specific diagnoses.
