The usage of the tannins for improvement of the natural durability of the wood

Abstract:

Ve snaze nahradit toxické a umělé impregnační látky, se již několik let experimen-tuje s taniny jako impregnačním prostředkem pro dřevo. V práci zkoumáme vzorky buku (Fagus sylvatica L.) a borovice běl (Pinus sylvestris L.) impregnované roztoky taninů o různých koncentracích (5, 10 a 20 %). Dále byly některé vzorky luhovány po dobu 5 dní, abychom zjistili vliv vyluhování na trvanlivost dřeva. Pro test trvanlivosti byly použity dvě houby, a to outkovka pestrá (Trametes versicolor) pro vzorky buku a koniofora sklepní (Coniophora putea) pro vzorky borovice. Výluhy vzorků byly analy-zovány spektrofotometricky a bylo zjištěno, že ztráty ve všech skupinách se pohybují od 23 % po 29 % z impregnovaného množství roztoku. Při testu trvanlivosti si nejlépe vedly vzorky buku impregnované 20% roztokem taninů, bez vyluhování. Výsledky byly hodnoceny pozitivně, i když dle normy ČSN EN 113 byla ochrana označena za nedostatečnou.

Abstract:

The utilisation of tannins to increase the natural wood durability In order to replace toxic and artificially made impregnation solutions, for several years it has been experimented with tannins as the impregnation solution for wood. In this thesis, we are analyzing samples of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) wood, which have been impregnated with solutions of tan-nins of various concentrations (5, 10 and 20 %). Furthermore, some samples were leached for 5 days to examine the influence of leaching on the durability of wood. Two species of fungi were used, Trametes versicolor was used in the testing of the beech samples and Coniophora putea for pine samples. Sample leachates were subsequently analysed using spectrophotometry and it was detected that the losses of all groups are from 23 % to 29 % out of all the impregnated solutions. The beech samples impreg-nated with 20 % tannin solution without leaching reached the best result in the durabil-ity tests. Even though according to the norm ČSN EN 113 the wood protection was insufficient, results were evaluated as positive.
