Security System of the Donetsk People's Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Bezpečnostní systém Doněcké lidové republiky“ je zaměřena na popis a analýzu bezpečnostního systému Doněcké lidové republiky (DLR) s využitím konceptů de facto států. Autorka propojuje koncept bezpečnostního systému a koncept de facto státu a dané propojení aplikujete na případ DLR. Při tvorbě práce bylo použito kvalitativních metod, a to včetně nestandardizovaných rozhovorů s obyvateli Doněcka, zaměstnanci jednotlivých ministerstev sledované územní entity, členy praporů opolčenců a místními aktivisty. Na základě sesbíraných dat byly analyzovány vzájemné vazby mezi aktéry bezpečnostního systému DLR. Tato práce přináší nejen informace o nestátních ozbrojených aktérech, kteří působí na území DLR, ale také o politických elitách, podnikatelích a představitelích kriminálních uskupení, jež mají vliv na fungování bezpečnostního systému DLR.

Abstract:

The thesis «The security system of the Donetsk People’s Republic» is focused on description and analysis of the security system of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) with using of the concepts of the de facto states. The author connects both the concept of security system and the concept of the de facto state and applies this connection to the case of the DPR. In this work, we use qualitative methods including non-standardized interviews with inhabitants of Donetsk, employees of individual departments of the territorial entity, members of the militia (Narodnoe Opolchenie) and local activists. Using the collected data, we analyze the interaction between actors of the security system of the DPR. This work provides information not only about non-state armed actors operating on the territory of the unrecognized entity, but also about political elites, businessmen and leaders of criminal groups which have an impact on the security system of the DPR.
