Discussion on Relationship of Son of God to God the Father in Arian Controversy

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá rozborem textů Areia z Alexandrie, Eusebia z Níkomédeie a Eusebia z Kaisareie, které vznikly v období před koncilem v Níkaii nebo během jednání Níkajského sněmu (325) a jejichž hlavním tématem je vztah Božího Syna k Bohu Otci. Rozbor textů ukazuje společné předpoklady, z nichž tři vybraní teologové při formulaci svých tezí vycházejí, ale také značné rozdíly v používané terminologii, které se zdají být zvláště patrné při srovnání textů Areia a Eusebia z Níkomédeie na jedné straně a textů Eusebia z Kaisareie na straně druhé.

Abstract:

The doctoral thesis is dealing with analysis of texts of Arius of Alexandria, Eusebius of Nicomedia and Eusebius of Caesarea which were written in a few years before council of Nicaea or during proceedings of the council of Nicaea (325). The analysis focuses on statements concerning relationship of the Son of God to God the Father. The thesis shows common assumptions which the theologians in question used when they conceived their statements, but in particular it searchs for differences in terminology which seems to be especially evident when the texts of Arius and Eusebius of Nicomedia on the one hand and the texts of Eusebius of Caesarea on the other hand are compared.
