Applications of manual therapy following total hip arthroplasty: case report

Abstract:

This paper deals with hip arthroplasty. In particular I wanted to investigate the clinical case of a patient I followed during my internship. The field of new technologies for the replacement of limbs/joint with innovative prostheses has always fascinated me; I therefore wanted to investigate the case of A.R., as the curiosity towards this patient increased when my internship tutor warned me that I would follow a patient with her who had just undergone a hip replacement surgery. I will divide my work starting from the anatomy of the hip, up to the reasons that lead to the replacement of the joint with an arthroplasty, specifying what it consists of, the material used, the possible complications, the types of prosthesis, the post treatment operators and finally I will address the clinical case of A.R. to which I will apply a classic rehabilitation protocol with manual therapy to eliminate pain and restore the autonomous path and the recovery of his daily life.

Abstract:

Il mio elaborato tratta dell'artroprotesi di anca. In particolare ho voluto approfondire il caso clinico di una paziente che ho seguito durante il mio periodo di tirocinio. L'ambito delle nuove tecnologie per la sostituzione di arti/articolazioni con protesi innovative mi ha sempre molto affascinato; ho voluto quindi approfondire il caso di A.R., in quanto la curiosit? verso questa paziente ? aumentata quando il mio tutor di tirocinio mi ha avvisato che avrei seguito insieme a lei una paziente che aveva appena subito un intervento di artroprotesi d'anca. Suddivider? il mio lavoro partendo dall'anatomia dell'anca, fino ad arrivare ai motivi che portano alla sostituzione dell'articolazione con un'artroprotesi, specificandone in cosa consiste, i materiali usati, le possibili complicanze, i tipi di protesi, i trattamenti post-opertori e infine affronter? il caso clinico di A.R: a cui applicher? un classico protocollo riabilitativo con terapia manuale per eliminare il dolore e ripristinare il cammino autonomo e la ripresa della sua vita quotidiana.
