Longitudinal Study of Postnatal Changes in Human Hair

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá studiem postnatálních změn lidských vlasů. Materiál představuje 1149 vzorků vlasů 30 náhodně vybraných jedinců z archivního souboru Brněnské longitudinální studie, kterou uskutečnila Marie Bouchalová. Vzorky byly odebírány v pravidelných odstupech od narození do 18 let. V této práci je navržena metodika a provedeno hodnocení barvy, typu dřeně a distribuce pigmentu vlasů. Z výsledků vyplývá, že barva se u chlapců i dívek mění ve světlejší odstíny od narození do 2-3 let, poté dochází k tmavnutí barvy vlasů. U dívek jsou změny barvy více variabilní než u chlapců. Nejčastěji se u chlapců i dívek vyskytuje přerušovaná dřeň a vlasy se středními shluky pigmentu. Byla zjištěna závislost mezi typem pigmentu a barvou vlasu, ale nebyla zjištěna žádná závislost mezi typem dřeně a barvou vlasu.

Abstract:

The topic of this dissertation is the postanal changes of human hair. The research sample contains 1149 samples of human hair of randomly selected people from Brno’s Longitudinal Archive File, which was carried out by Marie Bouchalova. The samples were taken in periodic intervals from birth to 18 years of age of each individual. The suitable methodology was proposed in first part of this dissertation. Then the evaluation of the hair colour, the type of hair medulla and hair pigment distribution was carried out in second part of this dissertation. As the results shown, the hair colour of both male and female hair samples changes into lighter shades only in early age - from birth to 2-3 years, then there is a growing trend in hair colour darkening as the people get older. Another finding is that the changes of hair colour are more variable in case of female than male hair samples. The most common feature for female and male samples is broken medulla and hair with middle-sized clumps of pigment. A dependency of different type of pigment and hair colour was discovered by the research, but there is no evidence of any dependency of the type of medulla and hair colour.
