Starving in the land of plenty - Images of food in the Dutch medieval text "Verhaal over het land van de zoet levenden"
Abstract:
Tato práce zkoumá středověký nizozemský text “Verhaal over het land van de zoet levenden“, tato středověká píseň vypráví příběh o Lenoráji, ve kterém je hojnost jídla i pití pro všechny. Motivy jídla a pití, které jsou v příběhu obsaženy jsou následně srovnávány s tehdejší skutečnou situací ve středověkém Nizozemí. Kulturně-historický výzkum se v této práci kloubí s literární analýzou textu.
Abstract:
The main topic of this study is a Dutch medieval text "Verhaal over het land van de zoet levenden", this medieval song tells a story about a land of plenty drink and food for everybody. The themes of food and drink which can be found in the story are compared with the real medieval situation in the Netherlands. This study joins a cultural-historical research with a literary analysis of the text.
