In-vitro Testing of Surfactant Irritation Potential Using Proteins

Abstract:

Teoretická část bakalářské práce se zabývá problematikou iritace pokožky, jejími projevy a teoretickými modely. Dále popisuje vliv surfaktantů na pokožku a předpokládané mechanismy jejich vzájemných interakcí. Součástí kapitoly je i charakteristika jednotlivých zástupců surfaktantů zvolených pro praktickou část této práce. Poslední kapitoly rešeršní části jsou věnovány klasifikaci in-vitro a in-vivo metod využívaných ke stanovení iritačního potenciálu surfaktantů. Praktická část je v úvodu zaměřena na charakterizaci roztoků vybraných surfaktantů, případně jejich směsí, zahrnující stanovení kritické micelární koncentrace směsných micel, velikosti a náboje micelárních agregátů. Stěžejní část se věnuje in-vitro testování iritačního potenciálu připravených roztoků surfaktantů a vybraných komerčních vzorků oplachové kosmetiky s využitím kukuřičného proteinu zeinu a hovězího sérového albuminu.

Abstract:

The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with the issue of skin irritation, its manifestations, and theoretical models. It also describes the effect of surfactants on skin, and the presumed mechanisms of their mutual interaction. This chapter also includes the characterization of individual surfactant representatives that were selected for the practical part of the bachelor thesis. The last chapters of the research section are devoted to the classification of in-vitro and in-vivo methods for assessing irritation potential of surfactants. The practical part is initially focused on the identification of selected surfactant solutions, eventually their mixtures, including the evaluation of critical micelle concentration of mixed micelle systems, as well as size and charge of micellar aggregates. The crucial part is dedicated to in-vitro assessing of irritation potential of prepared surfactant solutions and selected commercial samples of rinse-off cosmetics using zein protein and bovine serum albumin.
