Issues of nutrition of patients after a bariatric surgery

Abstract:

Cílem přehledové bakalářské práce bylo vyhledat a analyzovat vědecké studie, výsledky výzkumu a informace týkající se problematiky výživy a realimentace u pacientů po bariatrické operaci. Studie byly systematicky vyhledány pomocí předem stanovených klíčových slov, zahrnovacích a vylučovacích kritérií. Vyhledávání bylo provedeno pomocí elektronických databází EBSCO Academic Search Complete, Science Direct, Springer Link, CINHAL Plus with Full Text a PubMed. Výsledné zdroje byly tříděny dle struktury PRISMA. Na základě cíle práce a výzkumných otázek byly vybrány zdroje pro extrakci a syntézu dat. Bakalářská práce identifikovala několik překážek, kterým pacienti po bariatrické operaci čelili. Především se jednalo o nedostatečné množství proteinů ve stravě. Zároveň byl analyzován vztah mezi množstvím proteinů ve stravě a úbytkem netukové tkáně. S příjmem proteinů také souvisela intolerance stravy. Mnoho pacientů během prvního roku po bariatrických výkonech udávalo intoleranci některých potravin, jako například červeného masa. Tolerance stravy měla tendence se s časem zlepšovat. V neposlední řadě je analyzován vztah mezi dřívějším začátkem realimentace a zkrácením doby hospitalizace. Diskutována je také možnost zkrácení celkové doby trvání realimentace. Adherence pacientů k výživovým doporučením byla ve všech diskutovaných oblastech považována za nezbytnou. Tato bakalářská práce obsahuje 43 stran textu a 86 425 znaků.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to find and analyse scientific studies, results of research and information regarding issues of nutrition and alimentation of patients after a bariatric surgery. Research articles were systematically looked up using key words, inclusion and exclusion criteria. Search was conducted through electronic databases such as EBSCO Academic Search Complete, Science Direct, Springer Link, CINHAL Plus with Full Text a PubMed. Resources were sorted according to PRISMA structure. Articles which reflected aim of the bachelor thesis and research questions were used for analysis and synthesis of data. Bachelor thesis identified several obstacles that patients face after a bariatric surgery. First of all, insufficient amount of protein in meals was discovered. This paper also analyses link between amount of proteins consumed and loss of lean body mass. Lack of protein in diet is also related to intolerance of food. Many patients were intolerant towards certain products during the first postoperative year, particularly red meat was poorly tolerated. Tolerance of food tended to increase over time. Last but not least, relationship between earlier start of alimentation and shorter length of hospitalization was analysed. The possibility of shortening alimentation period is discussed. Adherence of patients towards nutritional recommendations was identified as crucial in all cases. This bachelor thesis contains 43 pages of text and 86 425 characters.
