Jedny z hlavních oblastí, které v současnosti zkoumají altruismus, jsou evoluční biologie a psychologie. Obě používají zcela odlišné metody. Hlavní rozdíl v pojetí altruismu jako motivu, nebo chování se však v poslední době ztrácí. Práce srovnává tyto dvě oblasti a hledá jejich výhody a nevýhody při zkoumání altruismu. Among the most important fields dealing with the altruism these days there are evolutionary biology and psychology. Both of them use different methods. The main difference in conception of altruism as a motive or behavior is recently vanishing.
