Knowledge of medical staff about coping a patient with mental retardation and aggression

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce na téma "Znalosti zdravotnického personálu o zvládání agrese u pacientů s mentální retardací" je zaměřena na agresivní chování pacientů s mentálním postižením. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část je zaměřena na formy a projevy mentální retardace, na poskytování ošetřovatelské péče. Vysvětlení pojmu agrese, druhy agrese a agresivní projevy. Dále se zabývá omezovacími prostředky, správným postupem při jejich použití, a s tím i související ošetřovatelkou péčí. V praktické části jsou interpretovány výsledky kvantitativního dotazníkového šetření, jež byl zaměřen na nelékařský zdravotnický personál v Psychiatrické nemocnici Horní Beřkovice. Výstupem této práce je zhodnocení úrovně vědomostí v oblasti komunikace s pacientem s mentální retardací. Zmapování četnosti agrese, zda ošetřující personál u svých pacientů dokáže včas rozpoznat známky blížící se agrese a ovládá správný postup při mechanickém omezení.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with aggressive behavior of the mentally handicapped patients. The thesis consists of two parts. The theoretical part focuses on the forms and signs of mental retardation and relating nursing care. It also covers an explanation of the term aggression, the types of aggression and the signs of aggressive behavior. It also deals with the means of restraint, the proper procedure when considering the application of restraint, and the related nursing care. The practical part interprets the results of an quantitative research questionnaire, which was focused on paramedical personnel at the Psychiatric Hospital Horní Beřkovice. The results of this work are the evaluation of the knowledge level in the field of communication with the mentally handicapped patients and the analysis of the frequency of aggression. The second mentioned result is studied with the aim to analyze whether paramedical personnel is able to recognize the signs of approaching aggression in time and manages the proper procedure when considering the application of mechanical restraint.
