An attempt to assess serolgical traits of ABO system of skeletal remains from Pohansko Lesní hrúd

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem práce je pokus o sérologickou analýzu kosterního materiálu z lokality Pohanska-Břeclavi. Pohřebiště je datováno na 800-850 let n. l. Pro analýzu historických kostí byla vybrána metoda absorpčně inhibiční, která musela být nadále upravena pro konkrétní vzorek. Testu bylo podrobeno celkem 34 jedinců - 2 mužů, 8 žen a 24 dětí z úseku Lesní hrúd. U dvou jedinců byla stanovena krevní skupina B, u zbylých koster nebyla sérologicky potvrzena přítomnost antigenu A ani B, a to ani u kostní tkáně, ani u testovaných zubů. V těchto případech nebylo možné dále rozlišit, zda jde o příslušníky krevní skupiny 0 či zda antigen již nevykazuje žádnou aktivitu. Výsledek je odrazem charakteru daného kosterního materiálu a prostředí, v němž byly kosti uloženy. Dále bylo provedeno stanovení proteinů v daných vzorcích i antisérech. Byly nastíněny mnohé faktory limitující výzkum a možné příčiny zkreslení výsledků. Zároveň byl navržen ideální metodický postup a další možnosti zkoumání v oblasti paleosérologie.

Abstract:

The main theme of this thesis is an attempt at serologic analysis of skeletal material found in archaeologic locality near Pohansko-Břeclav. This burial ground is approximately 800-850 years old. For analysis of these historical bones the modified absorption-inhibition method was chosen. In total, there were 34 individuals – 2 men, 8 women and 24 childrens from Lesní hrúd section tested. In cases of two individuals B blood group was determined and there were no possibilities to confirm the type of blood groups of a rest of the samples neither on the basis of bone tissues nor teeth. In these cases it was impossible to differentiate the 0 blood group or if the antigen was already not active. These results reflect the character of the sample and environment which the bones were stored in. Moreover, the protein determination in these samples and antiserum was carried out. Some of the factors which could limit the investigation and probable reasons of biased results were outlined. In conclusion, the methodical approach and other opportunities of investigation at the paleoserologic field were proposed.
