Quality of life of pacients with age-related macular degeneration

Abstract:

Objectiv: To determine the quality of life of pacients with dinase age- related macular degeneration in the following domains: physical health, survival, social relationships and enviromentand. The data collected to process and Compaq the results with population norms. Fin dout chat are the differences in perceptions of quality of life to sex, age and formo f the disease. Methods: The sample consisted of 53 pacients suffering from age- related macular degeneracion. The questionnaire surfy covered the period from 18. 10. 2012 to 18. 12. 2012 in the eye clinic at the University Hospital in Ostrava. To assess the quality of life we used a standardized questionnaire of the World Health Organization WHOQOL- BREF. The data obtained were compared to the standard sof metodology Dragomirecká (Dragomirecká, Barton, 2006). Results: The results obtained questionnaire that patiens with disease age- related macular degeneration have a reduced quality of life in all domains, but the worst results were found in the domain of physical health and survival. Also, this diference in perceptcion of life between men and women, further the diference in perception of quality of life according to the formo f the disease and the age of patiens. Conclusion: According to the surfy results, we can say that the disease age- related macular degeneracion affects all aspects of life, such as physical health, survival, social relatinships and environment.

Abstract:

Cieľ: Zistiť kvalitu života pacientov s ochorením vekom podmienená makulárna degenerácia v nasledujúcich doménach: fyzické zdravie, prežívanie, sociálne vzťahy a prostredie. Získané údaje spracovať a porovnať s výsledkami populačných noriem. Zistiť, aké sú rozdiely vo vnímaní kvality života v závislosti na pohlaví, veku a forme ochorenia. Metodika: Výskumný súbor tvorilo 53 pacientov, ktorí trpia vekom podmienenou makulárnou degeneráciou. Dotazníkové šetrenie prebiehalo v období od 18. 10. 2012 do 18. 12. 2012 na očnej klinike vo Fakultnej nemocnici v Ostrave. K posúdeniu kvality života sme použili štandardizovaný dotazník Svetovej zdravotníckej organizácie WHOQOL- BREF. Získané údaje boli porovnávané podľa noriem metodiky Dragomíreckej (Dragomírecká, Bartoňová, 2006). Výsledky: Z výsledkov získaných dotazníkovým šetrením vyplýva, že pacienti s ochorením vekom podmienená makulárna degenerácia majú zníženú kvalitu života vo všetkých doménach, no najhoršie výsledky boli zistené v doméne fyzické zdravie a prežívanie. Taktiež bol zaznamenaný rozdiel vo vnímaní kvality života medzi mužmi a ženami, ďalej rozdiel vo vnímaní kvality života podľa formy ochorenia a veku pacientov. Záver: Podľa výsledkov dotazníkového šetrenia môžeme povedať, že ochorenie vekom podmienená makulárna degenerácia ovplyvňuje všetky aspekty života ako je fyzické zdravie, prežívanie, sociálne vzťahy i prostredie.
