Phrasikleia: maiden who was instead of marriage, for ever by the Gods named kóré

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se zabývám archaickou koré Frasikleiou, nalezenou na Atice na lokalitě pohřebiště Myrrhinus. Věnuji se nejenom popisu vzhledu, symbolice, polychromii a rekonstrukci sochy, ale i shrnutí historického a politického kontextu. Dále uvádím stručné srovnání sochy s ostatními atickými korai, stejně tak jako jejich základní popis. Na závěr práce probírám společenskou problematiku žen v antickém Řecku a srovnáním s dnešním pohledem na ženu ve společnosti. Cílem bakalářské práce je vytvořit kompletní literární i obrazovou příručku pro sochu Frasikleiu.

Abstract:

In this bachelor’s thesis, I’ll be focusing on the archaic kore called Phrasikleia, found in Attica at the location of a cemetery of Myrrhinous. I’m focusing on the description of her visual aspects including polychromy and her symbolism. Im also describing the historical and political context. Further on I’ll be focusing on the comparison of the stele of Phrasikleia with other korai in Attica including their brief description. At the end of this thesis I’ll be discussing the social problematics of women in ancient Greece and comparing it with todays outlook on women in society. The goal of this work is to create a complete literary and illustratory handbook for the statue of Phrasikleia.
