Characteristics of Folk Custom of Spring Walk-about With Death Figure in Selected Municipalities in the Northern Znojmo Region

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na tradici jarních obchůzek se Smrtkou. Cílem práce je na základě terénního výzkumu charakterizovat současný stav tohoto zvyku ve vybraných obcích na severním Znojemsku a naznačit jeho zdejší vývoj. Terénní výzkum byl realizován zejména metodou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru a doplněn o informace získané studiem historických pramenů. Součástí bakalářské práce je teoretický úvod přinášející základní informace o stavu bádání, historii a obecné charakteristice zvyku. Následuje stěžejní část, která se věnuje tradici jarních obchůzek v Křepicích, Mikulovicích a Plavči. Ze závěru plyne, že spontánní dodržování tohoto jarního obyčeje je v dané lokalitě dosud živou tradicí s dlouhou historií, ale nejistou budoucností. Zjištěné informace jsou důležitým dokladem životnosti obyčeje ve znojemském regionu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the spring walk-about with death figure which is one of the spring traditions. The aim of the thesis is to describe this custom's current situation in selected municipalities in the northern Znojmo region based on a field research and to indicate its development. Field research was carried out mainly by the method of semi-structured interview and was supplemented by information obtained by studying historical sources. The bachelor thesis includes a theoretical introduction, bringing basic information about the state of research, history and general characteristic of this custom. The main part of the thesis deals with the tradition of spring walk-about in Křepice, Mikulovice and Plaveč villages. The conclusion proves that spontaneous adherence to this spring custom is still a living tradition with a long history, but with an uncertain future. The information found is an important testament of this custom's life span in the Znojmo region.
