The Congregation of the Brethren Evangelical Free Church in Brno - Betanie in the sociological perspective

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda a jak se předpoklady teorie racionální volby v sociologii náboženství odráží ve fungování a činnosti Sboru Církve bratrské v Brně – Betanie. Vedle toho jsem si všímala, jakým způsobem se propojují aspekty pluralitního náboženského trhu, byrokracie a racionální volby v sociologii náboženství. Teoretická část se tedy zaměřila na představení náboženského pluralitního trhu, na koncept náboženské soutěže, mikro a makroúroveň teorie racionální volby a na její kritiku a na základní principy byrokracie. V další části jsem se věnovala vývoji křesťanství v Evropě a v České republice. Ve zkratce jsem se zmínila o legislativních podmínkách a financování církví na našem území v současné době. Na to jsem navázala historií vzniku Církve bratrské. Poslední část obsahuje analýzu fungování a činnosti Sboru Církve bratrské v Brně – Betanie, kterou jsem zpracovala na podkladě dokumentů a informací uvedených na webových stránkách sboru. Na základě rozboru jsem dospěla k závěru, že většina předpokladů a poznatků zformulovaných v teoretické části vystihují činnost a jednání sboru Betanie.

Abstract:

The main goal of my thesis was to find if and how the prepositions of the theory of rational choise in the sociology of religion reflects in behaviour and activities of the Congregation of the Brethren Evangelical Free Church in Brno – Betanie. At the same time I observed in which way the aspects of pluralistic religious market, bureaucracy and rational choise in the sociology of religion interact. The theoretical part is focused on the introduction of pluralistic religious market, on the concept of religious competition, on micro- and macro level foundation of the theory of rational choise in the sociology of religion and on comments and on the basic principles of bureaucracy. The next part describes the development process of Christianity in Europe and in the Czech Republic. Shortly I talked about legislative conditions and about church funding in this country at present. After that I continued about the history of Brethren Evangelical Free Church. The last section contains the analysis of behaviour and activities of the Betanie religious group. The interpretation was dealed on the basis of documents and information mentioned on website of this religious group. On grounds of the analysis, I drew the conclusion that the major part of the prepositions and finding defined in the theoretical part represent behaviour and activities of the Betanie congregation.
