Abstract:
Tato práce pojednává o ženských postavách staroanglického eposu Béowulf. Přestože se jeho autor zaměřuje především na činy epického hrdiny, ženy jsou nedílnou součástí básně, jak dokládá studie o jejich rolích a postavení v hrdinské společnosti a analýza jednotlivých postav.
Abstract:
My thesis focuses on female characters in the Old English epic Beowulf. The primary emphasis on the male hero has led many critics to underestimate their roles or wrongly classify them as too passive. My thesis argues that even though women are not of primary concern to the Beowulf-poet, they are integral and vital part of the poem.
