Analysis of the impact of economic sanctions on the economy of the Russian Federation

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá zkoumáním účinků vnějších sankcí na hospodářský systém Ruské federace. Práce je zajímává z hlediska pochopení příčin a podstaty sankčních omezení a odvetné reakce Ruské federace. Odpovídá na otázku, zda sankce reálně mají explicitní negativní účinek na ekonomiku Ruska nebo naopak ji nijak zásadně neovlivňují. Cílem je práce je chronologické uspořádaní sankčních a protisankčních opatření podle průběhu zavedení, dále setřídění podnětů k jejich uvalení a analýza důsledků jejich zavedení. V první kapitole jsou k nahlédnutí teoretické aspekty sankcí a rozbor vybraných případů z mezinárodních dějin. Poté následuje podrobná analýza opatření USA a EU spolu se zkoumáním odvetných metod Ruska. V závěrečných částech uvádím empirickou analýzu efektů externích sankcí z hlediska různých aspektů hospodářství. Důležitým bodem je provedení ekonometrické analýzy vlivu hospodářských sankcí. Výsledkem diplomové práce je závěr, že sankce nepochybně mají určitý negativní vliv, ale v podstatě jenom zdůrazňují přetrvávající problémy, kterými trpí Rusko po celou dobu své existence.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the study of the effects of external sanctions on the economic system of the Russian Federation. The thesis is interested in terms of understanding the causes and nature of sanction restrictions and the retaliatory reaction of the Russian Federation. It answers the question of whether the sanctions really have an explicit negative effect on Russia's economy or, on the contrary, do not fundamentally affect it in any way. The aim of the work is the chronological arrangement of sanction and anti-sanction measures, further sorting the incentives for their imposition and analysis of the consequences of their introduction. The first chapter provides insight into the theoretical aspects of sanctions and analysis of selected cases from international history. This is followed by a detailed analysis of US and EU actions, together with the study of Russia's retaliatory methods. In the concluding sections, an empirical analysis of the effects of external sanctions in terms of various aspects of the economy is presented. An important point is performing an econometric analysis of the impact of economic sanctions. The result of the diploma thesis is the conclusion that sanctions undoubtedly have a certain negative effect, but they in fact only emphasize the persistent problems that Russia has suffered throughout its existence.
