Sexual Deviations in the Contemporary Discourse of Czech Sexology

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je věnována problematice sexuálních deviací v současném diskurzu české sexuologie. Nejprve jsou v textu představeny základní koncepty (diskurz, represivní hypotéza, biomoc, disciplinární moc) a historie sexuality včetně konstituování sexuologie jakožto vědní disciplíny, přičemž je důraz kladen především na to, jaké sexuální praktiky byly v různých dobách považovány za normální nebo deviantní (přijaté či naopak zakázané), a jak byly chápány perverze v počátcích sexuologie samotné. Ve zkratce je prezentována i stávající koncepce české sexuologie. Ve druhé části jsou za pomoci poststrukturalistické a kritické diskurzivní analýzy zkoumány vybrané sexuologické knihy vydané po roce 2000 s cílem zjistit, jak jsou v rámci české sexuologie definovány sexuální deviace, přítomnost jakých diskurzů lze v prostředí české sexuologie odhalit, jaké podoby sexuální deviace v diskurzu české sexuologie nabývají, a jaké pozice jsou prostřednictvím daného diskurzu přiřazovány subjektům. Práce na konkrétních příkladech ukazuje, že i když sexuologové veřejně proklamují svoje liberální postoje a legitimnost sexuálních deviací, jsou ve skutečnosti značně normativní, a pomocí diskurzů, jež využívají, naopak patologizují jakékoli odchylky od vyžadovaných heterosexuálních praktik, a tudíž i sexuální devianty samotné.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issues of sexual deviations in the contemporary discourse of Czech sexology. First of all the essential concepts such as discourse, repressive hypothesis, bio-power and disciplinary power are defined as well as the history of sexuality including establishment of sexology as scientific discipline. The great emphasis is put on sexual customs, during different time periods, whether they were considered as normal or deviant (acceptable or unacceptable), and also the concept of understanding of perversity at the dawn of sexology. Furthermore, present Czech sexology conception is introduced briefly. The second part of the thesis is aimed at sexual deviance definitions under the terms of the Czech sexology, what discourses can be found in the field of the Czech sexology, what sexual deviations can be according to the discourse of Czech sexology and what positions were assigned to the subjects through the discourses with the help of poststructuralist and critical discourse analysis of chosen sexology treatise published after 2000. Thanks to the examples of typical cases is shown that although sexologists claim their liberal attitude and legitimacy to the sexual deviations, in fact they pay attention to any deviations from the expected heterosexual behaviour and finally they consider them and so even deviants as unacceptable.
