Economic evaluation of the green roof in relation to the adaptation of the city to climate change

Abstract:

Práce pojednává o zelených střechách a jejich celospolečenských přínosech, přičemž zkoumá faktory ovlivňující návratnost investic do zelených střech. Mezi využité metody patří ekonomické hodnocení nákladů a přínosů a jejich porovnání pomocí cost-benefit analýzy. Zelená střecha poskytuje přínosy i v dalších letech po realizaci, je proto použit výpočet čisté současné hodnoty, která umožňuje stanovit a porovnat výši budoucích nákladů a přínosů. Z výsledků vyplývá, že hlavním faktorem ovlivňujícím výši přínosů zelených střech je lokalita střech a místní podmínky, které na ni působí. Významný vliv má i energetický management (zejména zdroje vytápění). Vlivem dostupných dat ale nebyl tento faktor v práci v rámci případových studií řešen. Přidaná hodnota práce spočívá ve vyhodnocení přínosů různých střech ve vztahu s faktory, které je ovlivňují, což umožňuje efektivnější výstavbu zelených střech a jejich podporu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with green roofs and their society-wide benefits, while it examines factors influencing the return of investment in green roofs. The methods used include economic evaluation of costs and benefits and their comparison using cost-benefit analysis. A green roof provides benefits years after construction, so a calculation of net present value is used, which makes it possible to determine and compare the amount of future costs and benefits. The results showed, that the main factor influencing the benefits of green roofs is the location of the roof and the local conditions affecting it. Significant influence has energy management too (especcialy heating sources). However, due to the available data, this factor was not addressed in this work. Added value of this thesis is the evaluation of benefits of different roofs according to factors, which influenced them. That allows more effective construction of the green roofs.
