Social intelligence, social competence, social skills and communication of adults with various form of asocial behavior

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je součástí výzkumného projektu, který je postaven na spolupráci tří studentek Psychologického ústavu Masarykovy univerzity v Brně. Základním cílem výzkumného projektu je analyzovat komponenty sociální inteligence a určit, které se podílí na míře sociálního a prosociálního chování z vývojového hlediska. Výzkumnou skupinu (lidé s asociálním chováním) tvoří dospělí jedinci ve výkonu trestu a kontrolní skupinu tvoří dospělí jedinci, kteří se objektivně chovají prosociálně. Teoretická část výzkumu je rozdělena do tří diplomových prací, z nichž každá přispívá k celkové problematice určitým dílem. Empirická část se liší pouze ve výzkumném souboru. Teoretická část této diplomové práce se zabývá obecným vymezením pojmu emoční inteligence, její historií, aplikací, deskripcí nejvýznamnějších modelů EI, úzkostností a empatií. Na závěr je uvedena komplexní charakteristika vývojového období dospělosti. V empirické části se zabýváme vztahy mezi jednotlivými komponentami sociální inteligence a jejich projevy v asociálním a prosociálním chování. Hlavní pozornost jsme soustředili na empatii, kterou zjišťuje dotazník IRI – interpersonal reaktivity index a na bariéry pro rozvoj sociální inteligence, kterými jsou úzkostnost (dotazník STAI X-2), impulzivita a psychický nepokoj (dotazník SUPSO). Tyto konstrukty jsou ukotveny i v teoretické části. Dále nás zajímá sociální rezonance, sociální potence a sebekontrola, které jsou obsaženy v Giessen testu. Sociální inteligence se také projevuje v adekvátních strategiích zvládání stresu, které měříme pomocí dotazníku SVF 78. Nedílnou součástí SI je tendence k altruismu měřená dotazníkem SIPO. Z osobnostních charakteristik se jako bariéry jeví poruchy osobnosti, zjišťované testem PSSI a neuroticismus (dotazník NEO). Test NEO navíc postihuje osobnostní charakteristiky, jako jsou extraverze, otevřenost, přívětivost a svědomitost, které chápeme jako prediktory sociální inteligence.

Abstract:

This thesis is a part of a research project based on the teamwork of three students of the Department of psychology at the Masaryk University. The basic objectives of the research project is to analyze the components of social intelligence and to state, which out of these components participate in the rate of social and prosocial behavior from the view of developmental psychology. The research group is formed by the adults in prison (people with asocial behavior), the control group is formed by the adults, whose behavior is objectively prosocial. The theoretical part of the research is divided into tree diploma theses, each of them making a certain contribution to the general issue. The empirical part only differs in terms of the research group. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the general definition of the term emotional intelligence, its history, its application, description of the most important models EI, anxiety and empathy. At the end, a complex characteristic of the development stage of adulthood is introduced. In the empirical part we deal with the relationships between the single components of social intelligence and its reflections in asocial and prosocial behavior. In the main focus of our attention was empathy inquired by the questionnaire IRI (interpersonal reactivity index) and the barriers of the development of social intelligence such as anxiety (questionnaire STAI-X2), impulsivity and psychical disorder (questionnaire SUPSO). These constructs are being dealt with in the theoretical part as well. Followingly we are interested in social resonance, social potency and self control included in Giessen test. Social intelligence is i.a. reflected in adequate stress strategies inquired by the questionnaire SVF 78. An integral part of social intelligence is the tendency towards altruism inquired by the questionnaire SIPO. As barriers for the social intelligence development we identified anxiety (questionnaire STAI-X2), impulsivity and psychical disorder (questionnaire SUPSO). Among personal characteristics personality disorder inquired by the test PSSI and neuroticism inquired by the questionnaire NEO appear to be the barriers. This questionnaire concerns the personal characteristics such as extroversion, openness, affability and conscientiousness, which we understand as predictors of social intelligence.
