School Leadership and Management - Case Study

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce zkoumá, jak se organizační struktura školy promítá do procesu jejího vedení a řízení. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části – teoretickou a empirickou. Teoretická část nejprve pojednává o školském managementu, škole a její organizační struktuře. Druhá kapitola je věnována ústřední osobě v procesu vedení a řízení školy – řediteli –, jeho identitě, rolím a kompetencím. Třetí kapitola pojednává o vedení lidí a atributech efektivního vedení školy. Klíčovým pojmem v této kapitole je pedagogické vedení. Teoretickou část uzavírá kapitola o řízení školy, přičemž důraz je kladen na specifika, která s řízením školy souvisí. Empirická část nejprve popisuje metodologické pozadí výzkumu a následně výsledky realizovaného výzkumu prezentuje a interpretuje. Hlavními vstupy zkoumaného případu je organizační struktura školy a disharmonický vztah ředitelky a jejího zástupce. Hlavním jevem případu je rozpolcené vedení a nevymezené kompetence, projevující se v několika oblastech – ambivalentní pedagogické priority, nečitelné rozhodování, a priori souboj a problémová komunikace. Dopady spatřuji ve vnitřně rozdělené škole.

Abstract:

Presented thesis explores the impact of the organization structure of the school to its leadership and management process. The thesis is divided to the two parts – the theoretical and the empirical. The teoretical one firstly deals with the school management, school and its organization structure. Then, in the second chapter it concerns the main character in the process of leading and manaement – school principal –, his identity, roles and competencies. The third chapter is dedicated to the leadership and the attributes of the effective school management. The chapter about the school management closes theteoretical part. The chapters focus is on the particular things connected to the school management. The empirical part firstly describes the metodological background of the research and then presentes and interprets the research results. The main inputs of the considered case is organization structure of the school and the disharmonical relationship of the principal and her deputy. The main phenomenon are the split leadership and undefined competences, which demonstrate in several areas – mixed pedagogical priorities, non-transparent decision-making, a priori fight and problematic communication. The impacts of the mentioned I see in the internally divided school.
