Catalan Nationalism ant the Tradition of castellers reflected in the novel Hacer piña by Jordi López Daltell

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the Catalan nationalism, its origin, development and cultural manifestations. It examines a popular tradition called castellers, in which not only a native's identity projects but also certain nationalist features reflect. It is looked at the issue from the point of view of a Catalan nationalist, alternatively of a participant in the tradition himself. There are two goals of this thesis. The first one is an attempt to generally identify nationalist features and demonstrate the connection not only between the Catalan nationalism and the castellers but in general between an affiliation with a specific group and its tradition. The second goal is to examine the representation of these displays and reality in the novel Hacer piña by Jordi López Daltell.

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá katalánským nacionalismem, jeho původem, vývojem a kulturními projevy. Rozebírá známou katalánskou tradici zvanou castellers, ve které se projevuje nejen identita místních obyvatel, ale odráží se v ní i jisté prvky nacionalismu. Na problematiku je přitom pohlíženo očima katalánského nacionalisty, případně samotného účastníka tradice. Cíl práce je dvojí. Tím prvním je snaha obecně identifikovat prvky nacionalismu a demonstrovat vztah nejenom mezi katalánským nacionalismem a castellers, ale obecně mezi příslušností k určité skupině a její tradicí. Druhým cílem je pak zkoumat zobrazení těchto projevů a skutečností v románu Hacer piña, jehož autorem je Jordi López Daltell.
