Issues of sick building syndrome

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou syndromu nemocných budov a je zpracována formou literární rešerše. Syndrom nemocných budov (angl. Sick Building Syndrome - SBS) je soubor nespecifických obtíží vyskytující se u většího počtu osob při pobytu v budově. Příznaky se zhoršují s delším setrváváním v budově a naopak po odchodu z budovy se zlepšují nebo úplně mizí. Příčina není dosud zcela objasněna. Pravděpodobně se na ní podílí více faktorů. V teoretické části jsou shrnuty základní informace o SBS. Popsány jsou příznaky, možné příčiny, diagnostika, léčba, možnost prevence, nápravná opatření, zdravotní důsledky a ekonomické ztráty. Závěr kapitoly informuje o problematice SBS v České republice. Praktická část je zaměřena na vyhledání aktuálních informací o SBS a studium odborných publikací. Cílem práce je souhrnně popsat problém SBS a zmapovat současné poznatky z nejnovějších studií, jak tento problém řešit či jak mu předcházet.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of the Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) and is processed as a background research. The SBS is a set of unspecific health problems afflicting high number of persons in the building. The symptoms are growing worse during they stay inside the building and after leaving they are decreased or totally missing. The main cause is not completely clarified yet. Probably, there are participating more factors. In the theoretical part there is summarized the main information about SBS. There are described the symptoms, possible causes, diagnostics, treatment, possibility of prevention and remedy, health consequences and economical loss. Conclusion of this chapter informs about issue of SBS in Czech Republic. The practical part is concerned in researching actual information about SBS and study scientific publications. The aim is to describe and summarize the problem of SBS and to map the current approach from newest studies in solving of this problem and/or its prevention.
