EXPERIMENTAL GRAPHIC PROCEDURES IN ILLUSTRATION

Abstract:

The set of paintings, graphics and drawings has two levels of content, real and fictional. The first is based on diary entries, sketches and attempts at ritual in private, quarantine conditions. It continues smoothly into imaginative time and space created by mythological characters and stories of different cultures. Personal statement mixes with myth and thus forms a whole telling of the search for God, beauty, and parallels to the present day. These works are the product of the ritual itself. Each figure or object has its meaning, they perform an act of supplication, respect for life or gratitude. We could say that it is a literal transcript of a prayer that never had words. The working name of this file is 'The Anatomy of Myth'. The motifs refer to various myths from many cultures. E.g. The Scandinavian myth of Sleipnirr - the 8-feet horse of the god Odin, the biblical four horsemen of the apocalypse, quotes from the book of Genesis. The ritual has an initiating, protective, pleading, thankful character. The cycle of graphics, paintings called Anatomy of Myth is thematically focused on the transience of the moment, life and the experience of the moment. Studying the power of the present and its indelible influence on the past and the future. What remains of the present is only inanimate, with any great effort, an imperfect record of feelings and sensations, reality itself without a flowing soul. Formally, it is about finding a suitable, balanced position between drawing and painting. Dry point and acrylic relief underpainting, oil painting on canvas with oil pastel or ink. Abstract:

Téma diplomovej práce prirodzene vyplinula z predošlej tvorby kresebných zobrazení rituálov. Jedná sa o súbor pastelových, olejopastelových, akvarelových kresieb a malieb a olejomalieb na plátne. Spočiatku boli práce ovplyvnené denníkovými záznamami rituálu, ktorý mal pre mňa meditačný, iniciačný charakter. Vďaka, ktorému som sa dokázal efektívnejšie sústrediť na tvorbu v tekajúcom svete. Postupom času sa k osobnej tématike pridávali tradičné mytologické postavy severskej, gréckej, keltskej mytológie. Za zvolením tejto témy stojí aj môj záujem o tieto staré kultúry. Obsahovú stránku diplomovej práce do veľkej miery ovplyvnila literatúra C. G. Junga, Karla Kerényi, a iné antropologické štúdie napr. Antropológia náboženstva (Rituál, mytológia, šamanizmus, pútnictvo) od Fiony Bowie, Staroškandinávská mytológia, starozákonné a novozákonné biblické texty, Islandské a Grónske ságy. Z hľadiska obsahu bol zásadný záujem o duchovno a kontrapunkt sakrálneho a profánneho sveta. Dopad náboženských aktov na psychiku a skutočný život, ktoré som od detstva zažíval a videl v prostredí rodiny. Potreba veriť a spochybňovať. Nutnosť rehole v rozpadajúcej sa štruktúre posledného roku. Rituál a zvyk. Zvyk je tradícia od vykonanej činnosti neočakávame priamu reakciu. Rituál je modlitba, žiadosť, prosba. Je to akt, ktorým sa snažíme ovplyvniť dianie, bytie. Naskrz rituál orientuje pozornosť k budúcnosti zatiaľčo zvyk minulosti. Spoločnú majú len repetetívnosť. Hľadanie paralely medzi výtvarnou prácou a hľadaním nadprirodzena, boha, entity je pre mňa hlavným aspektom tejto práce, aby som mohol byť rituálu účastny.
