Media picture of state sovereignty Czech republic in the relation with European Union

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu státní suverenity České republiky ve vztahu k Evropské unii. Práce vychází z konceptů redefinicí státní suverenity, které se dějí pod vlivem nadnárodních institucí, jako je také Evropská unie, stejně jako pod vlivy globalizace. Pomocí metody obsahové analýzy si práce klade za cíl popsat, analyzovat a interpretovat mediální obraz svrchovanosti, jak byl konstruován v českých denících – MF Dnes, Lidové noviny, Právo a Haló noviny v letech 2003 a 2009. Práce se soustředí na míru pokrytí tématu, hodnocení vlivů Evropské unie na státní suverenitu a témata, která s ní byla spojována. Pokouší se také odpovědět, zda lze v referování o státní suverenitě nalézt prvky banálního nacionalismu. Závěry práce poukazují zejména na negativní vyznění obrazu a silnou míru personalizace a negativity tématu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the Czech sovereignty in relation to the Eu European Union. The thesis derives from the concepts of redefinition of state sovereignty that are influenced by supranational institutions like the European Union as well as by the phenomenon of globalization. By means of content analysis the thesis describes, analyzes and interprets the view of the media on state sovereignty as constructed in Czech broadsheets between 2003 and 2009: MF Dnes, Lidové noviny, Právo and Hálo noviny. The thesis concentrates on the degree to which assigned broadsheets cover the theme. The European Union assessment of the influences on state sovereignty and related topics is developed, too. In addition, the question of banal nationalism and state sovereignty is elaborated. The conclusion points out to the negative aspects of the subject as well as to the considerable personalization of the topic.
