Interbirth Interval as a Factor of Ontogenesis of the Human Dermatoglyphics

Abstract:

V této práci je shrnut přehled stávajících poznatků o meziporodním (a mezitěhoten-ském) intervalu a jeho potenciálním vlivu na prenatální vývoj člověka. Na základě těchto teoretických znalostí byl prozkoumán pilotní soubor otisků prstů jako marke-rů prenatálního vývoje ve vztahu k meziporodnímu intervalu a rodinným faktorům. Materiál tvořilo 150 sad otisků prstů (60 mužů, 90 žen české a slovenské národnosti) s dostupnými informacemi o jejich rodinném prostředí. Byly prozkoumány vztahy rodinných faktorů a meziporodního intervalu s radio-ulnárními rozdíly v kvantitativních hodnotách vzorů na prstech ruky. Byl potvrzen vzájemný vztah mezi radio-ulnárními trendy v kvantitativních hodnotách vzorů a počtem starších sester u obou pohlaví. Naopak pořadí narození jedince mělo vliv na tyto dermatoglyfické proměnné pouze u mužů a pouze na levé ruce. V souboru byl také identifikován vztah věku rodičů v době početí jedince s radio-ulnárními trendy kvantitativních hodnot vzorů na prstech levé i pravé ruky u žen. Nalezené radio-ulnární trendy a jejich souvislosti s prenatálními faktory by bylo vhodné do budoucna blíže prozkoumat, jelikož se jedná o potenciálně užitečné odvozené dermatoglyfické znaky pro studium prenatálního prostředí.

Abstract:

This thesis summarizes and overviews current knowledge about the interbirth (and interpregnancy) interval and its potential effect on human prenatal development. Based on this theoretical knowledge, a pilot set of fingerprints as markers of pre-natal development in relation to the interbirth interval and family factors was exam-ined. The material consisted of 150 sets of fingerprints (60 men, 90 women of Czech and Slovak population) with available information about their family environment. The relationships of family factors and the interbirth interval with radio-ulnar differences in the quantitative values of the patterns on the fingers were examined. The correlation between radio-ulnar trends in the quantitative values of the patterns and the number of older sisters in both sexes was confirmed. In contrast, the birth order of an individual affected these dermatoglyphic variables only in men and only in the left hand. There was also identified the relationship between age of the parents at the time of conception of the individual with radio-ulnar trends of quantitative values of patterns on the fingers of the left and right hand in women. The found radio-ulnar trends and their connection with prenatal factors should be examined in more detail in the future, as these are potentially useful derived dermatoglyphic features for the study of the prenatal environment.
