European development aid as a tool for democracy and human rights promotion: The current state of human rights indicators

Anotace:

The thesis assesses the effectiveness of application, relevance and capability of human rights indicators used in the EU’s geographical development programming. By reviewing the political commitments of the EU to the ideas of human rights promotion and studying the regional and country strategy papers and indicative programmes the present study determines whether the currently used indicators in EU’s geographical development programming are able to adapt to changing circumstances and facilitate effective monitoring and evaluation of the state of human rights in the partner country receiving development aid.
