Development of a technological platform for teaching node.js programming course

Abstract:

Tato práce je zaměřena na přípravu technologické platformy pro výuku programovacího kurzu Node.js. Hlavním cílem je práce je prozkoumání možností technologií a vytvoření podkladů pro samotnou výuku předmětu. Úvodní část práce je věnována popisu současných trendů webových technologií. Jedná se zejména o JavaScript, samotný Node.js, Redis a cloudové služby. Následně je nastíněn stav výuky programování na Vysoké škole ekonomické v době vypracování práce, společně s popisem zamýšlené podoby studentské aplikace, kterou byla zvolena chatovací aplikace. Z tohoto je se dále vychází v praktické části, kde je popsán postup vývoje a samotná aplikace. Výsledkem jsou podklady pro výuku, které provází vývojem aplikace a jsou doplněny o ukázky probíraného kódu. Ty jsou pak studentům dostupné na vytvořeném gitovém repositáři, kde jsou řazeny do větví dle cvičení společně se zdrojovými kódy.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the preparation of a technological platform for teaching the Node.js programming course. The main goal of the thesis is to explore the possibilities of technology and to create materials for teaching the subject itself. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the description of current trends in web technologies. These are mainly JavaScript, Redis, cloud services and Node.js itself. Subsequently, current state of teaching programming at the University of Economics is described, together with a description of the intended form of the student application, by which the chat application was chosen. This is further followed in the practical part, which describes the development process and the application itself. The result is teaching materials that describes the development of the application and are supplemented by samples of the discussed code. These are then available to students on the created git repository, where they are sorted into branches according to current part of development together with source codes.
