The Role of Music and Sound in The Artwork of Petr Nikl

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o mnohostranném umělci Petru Niklovi a zejména pak o jeho hudební tvorbě, která se projevuje jednak v rámci koncertních vystoupení s uskupeními jako jsou Lakomé Barky či Sváteční Pop, dále pak řadou hudebních nahrávek, zvukových nahrávek k autorským knihám, hudebních doprovodů k výstavám či množstvím divadelních představení a performancí, ve kterých má hudební výstup velmi důležitou roli. Hudba či zvuk vznikají také prostřednictvím interaktivních akustických instalací, které jsou součástí výstav Play, Hnízda her či Zahrada fantazie a hudby, zaměřených na interakci s návštěvníky a na jejich touhu po hře. Práce analyzuje Niklovu tvorbu prosycenou hudbou a nejrůznějšími zvuky napříč jeho různorodým uměleckým směřováním, které lze označit za multimediální. Práce se zabývá také autorovými texty písní, rozdíly mezi psanými (potažmo recitovanými) a zpívanými texty, užívanými hudebními i jinými nástroji či tím, jakým způsobem je hudební doprovod k Niklovu zpívanému projevu tvořen. Petr Nikl vytvořil či spoluvytvořil poměrně četné množství hudebního materiálu, které doposud nebylo nikým zpracováno v žádné akademické práci.

Abstract:

This final bachelor thesis deals with the versatility of Petr Nikl’s artwork and especially his music work, which is showcased within concert performances with groups like Lakomé Barky or The Festive Pop, as well as number of music records, sound records for Nikl’s books, music accompaniments to exhibitions, plays or performances, in which the music output plays very important role. Music or sound are created via interactive acoustic installations that are part of exhibitions such as The Play, The Nests of Games or The Garden of Fantasy. These are mainly focused on the interaction between the spectator’s view and his desire for games. The thesis analyses Nikl’s work interlaced with music and different varieties of sounds throughout his diverse artistic directions which could be labelled as multimedia artwork. The thesis also follows up author’s lyrics and its differences between written (respectively recited) text and lyrics that have been sung and used together with musical or other instruments, and in what way the music accompaniment to Nikl’s songs is made. Petr Nikl has created or co-created relatively numerous volume of musical material, which has not been surveyed or considered in any academical thesis yet.
