Bakalářská práce The Generic Man and Its Substitution pojednává o problematice gendrové předpojatosti v jazyce. První část práce vyzdvihuje jazykové diskriminační prostředky s ohledem na ženy. Dále se zabývá možnostmi, jak se takové předpojatosti vyhnout. Druhá část zkoumá (pseudo)generické -man složeniny. Na základě internetových zdrojů mapuje práce výskyt -man, -woman složenin a -person(s), -people složenin, které představují alternativu namísto problematických -man forem.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis The Generic Man and Its Substitution deals with the issue of gender bias present in language. The first part of the work highlights some of the discriminatory features of the English language with respect to women. It also examines the means of bias avoidance. The second part investigates (pseudo)generic -man compounds. Drawing on internet sources, it maps the occurrence of -man, -woman compounds as well as -person(s), -people compounds, which provide alternatives for the problematic -man forms.
