The Soviet disent - musical and literary aspects of regime in the selected period

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na analýzu vybrané literatury sovětského disentu, jejíž hlavním tématem je fenomén gulag. Práce by měla poskytnout historický přehled o pracovních táborech a jejich roli ve společnosti. Cílem mého výzkumu je zjistit, v čem se názory vybraných autorů na sovětský režim změnily, zvláště pokud to vedlo k jejich sebereflexi. Pro analýzu jsem si vybral knihu Souostroví Gulag a Jeden den Ivana Děnisoviče od Alexandra Solženicyna, Kolymské povídky od Varlama Šalamova, Jaká je cena člověka od Eufrosinije Kersnovskaji, Strmá cesta od Jevgenije Ginzburgové a Odljan neboli Vzduch Svobody od Leonida Gabyševa. Vybrané knihy od těchto autorů patří mezi nejdůležitější z ruského disentu, které vypráví příběh o životě v koncentračních táborech. Díla těchto autorů jsou hojně překládána do mnoha cizích jazyků a získala mezinárodní uznání pro podání tohoto tématu širšímu publiku.

Abstract:

This Bachelor Thesis focuses on analyzing selected literature of Soviet dissent, its main theme being the gulag phenomenon. Thesis should provide an overview of the labor camps and how they functioned, as well as an insight on how confinement affected the political views of the individual authors. The goal of my research was to determine, in what ways did their opinions change concerning the Soviet regime and if it lead to their self-reflection. For the analysis I chose these books: The Gulag Archipelago and One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich from Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Kolyma Tales from Varlam Shalamov, How Much Is a Person Worth from Eufrosinia Kersnovskaya, Within the Whirlwind from Jevgenija Ginzburg and Odlyan, or the Air of Freedom from Leonid Gabyshev. Selected works are some of the most relevant in the Russian dissent telling the story of life in the concentration camps. Works of these authors have been widely translated in numerous foreign languages and received international recognition for bringing the reality of Russian gulags to a wider audience.
