The Specifics of the Ostrovský's plays (on the material of The Forest and The Storm plays)

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá dvěma dramaty Ostrovského Les a Bouře. Na těchto dvou dramatech se snažíme dokázat jejich společné i rozdílné znaky, které se projevují též v celé tvorbě Ostrovského. V prvních kapitolách se zaměřujeme na obecnou charakteristiku díla Ostrovského, na definici literárních termínu a na vývoj dramatu v Rusku v 19. století. V následujících kapitolách detailněji probíráme obě dramata s důrazem na charakteristiku postav a na symboliku v obou hrách. V konečné fázi práce obě dramata srovnáme a tím se nám ukáže vývoj nejen tvorby A. N. Ostrovského, ale též vývoj historický, politický a kulturní, který v Rusku v 19. století ovlivnil všechny složky běžného života.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with two plays written by Ostrovsky – The Forest and The Storm. On these two plays we are trying to prove their common and different features which can be seen in the whole Ostrovsky´s work. In the first chapters we focus on the general characteristics of the Ostrovsky´s work, and then we focus on the definitions of the literary terms and on the development of the drama in Russia in the 19th century. In the next chapters we discuss both plays in detail with the emphasis on the characteristics of the heroes and on the symbolism in both plays. In the end we compare the two plays and then we can learn about the development of the Ostrovsky´s work as well as the historical, cultural and political development which influenced every component of the ordinary life during the 19th century.
